In Friendship and Remembrance

In May 2026, the Most Venerable Katugastota Uparatana Nayaka Thera attended a funeral observance for the late father of Ven. Dr. Thanat Inthisan, joining members of the Maha Sangha, family and supporters in remembrance and prayer.

Bhante offered his respects to the departed and conveyed his condolences to Ven. Thanat and his family. The gathering provided a quiet occasion to honour a life that had ended and to offer spiritual support to those experiencing loss.

The visit also reflected the longstanding friendship and shared service between Bhante and Ven. Thanat. In August 2015, the two monks led the meeting at Wat Thai Washington, D.C., that resulted in the establishment of the International Buddhist Association of America. The organisation was created to encourage cooperation among Buddhist traditions and communities throughout the United States.

By being present during a time of bereavement, Bhante affirmed the importance of compassion, fellowship and mutual care within the Maha Sangha.

May the departed share in the merits offered in his memory, and may Ven. Thanat and his family find comfort, strength and peace.

🙏 Sadhu! Sadhu!! Sadhu!!!
