Compassion in Action at Polpithigama Base Hospital

On 15 November 2025, Uparatana Paramitha Padanama, founded and chaired by the Most Venerable Katugastota Uparatana Nayaka Thera, presented hospital equipment and patient-care supplies to Polpithigama Base Hospital in Sri Lanka.

The donation included mattresses, chairs and other essential items intended to improve patients’ comfort and support the hospital’s daily work. Bhante formally presented the supplies in the presence of hospital staff, community representatives and supporters of the foundation.

The initiative reflected Uparatana Paramitha Padanama’s commitment to responding to practical needs within communities across Sri Lanka. By providing essential equipment to a public hospital, the foundation offered meaningful assistance to patients as well as to the healthcare professionals who care for them.

The donation ceremony was also featured in Sri Lankan television news coverage, drawing wider attention to the importance of supporting community healthcare services and to the foundation’s continuing charitable work.

The Maryland Buddhist Vihara community rejoices in this meritorious undertaking and in Bhante’s dedicated service to communities in Sri Lanka.

May all who contributed to this worthy effort share in its merit, and may the donated supplies bring comfort and benefit to many.

🙏 Sadhu! Sadhu!! Sadhu!!!
