Caring for Community Health at MBV
On 21 September 2025, Maryland Buddhist Vihara hosted a free community health screening for members of the local Sri Lankan community.
Organised with the Sri Lankan American Society for Health and supported by the Health Betterment Initiative, the programme offered preventive checks and basic health services in a familiar and welcoming community setting. Participants received assistance including blood-pressure checks, consultations and laboratory testing, together with guidance on maintaining good health and seeking appropriate follow-up care where needed.
The screening formed part of an ongoing effort to make preventive healthcare more accessible and to encourage early attention to common health concerns. By bringing these services directly to the Vihara, the programme helped reduce barriers and created an opportunity for community members to speak with healthcare professionals in a trusted environment.
Maryland Buddhist Vihara is grateful to the medical professionals, organisers and volunteers who contributed their time and expertise to this valuable service.
May their compassionate work support the health, wellbeing and peace of all who participated.
