What to Expect
The Katina is one of the most sacred and joyful ceremonies in the Theravada Buddhist calendar — a tradition over 2,500 years old, commemorating the conclusion of Vassa, the three-month Rains Retreat observed by monks.
During the Katina, the lay community comes together to offer robes and requisites to the monks — considered one of the most meritorious acts in Theravada Buddhism, connecting our community directly to the time of the Buddha.
For this special occasion, visiting monks are invited to the Vihara. Community members are warmly encouraged to participate and make offerings.
